People Who Choose Hill Photography...

featuring Nelson and Amy Cunningham

Our passion here at Hill Photography is more than just portraiture, it's also relationships.  Over the years, Connie and I have become friends with so many people through the studio. We have actually had the opportunity to watch families begin, grow, grow some more and at times, get smaller. So we decided to sit down and chat with some of people that have chosen Hill Photography as their photographer.

Amy and Nelson Cunningham  have been clients of ours since they got married several years ago..

Q: So to begin with, how did you guys meet?

A:Nelson and I are junior high/high school sweethearts.  We met in 6th grade and the rest is history.  :)  We did take a long break from each other during college, but fortunately God had a plan for us...together.

Q: Amy, tell us  a little about what it's like being a "stay-at-home" mom.

A: Being a mom is God's greatest blessing and being able to stay home with them is my second greatest blessing!  I love it!  Nelson and I weren't sure we could make it work in the beginning, but so far, God has been good to us.  We have never regretted our decision.  Being a stay at home mom is challenging, but richly rewarding at the same time, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Q:...and your husband, Nelson, tell us what it is that he does.

A: Nelson is a busy man!  He owns Green Valley Farms, a full service nursery and sod farm at Threeway.  He is a landscape designer and is truly good at what he does.  Nelson loves his job and is grateful for his business.

Q:  You have 3 children.  Teel us about them -  what makes them unique?

A: Jack-our first born.  Jack is such a kind hearted, sensitive child.  He loves trucks and tractors and t ball. Jack's laugh is infectious and his positive attitude is like a breath of fresh air.  He cares very much about people.  Jack is an absolute joy to be around

Cate Cannon-our only daughter.  Cate Cannon is pure sunshine. She's an energetic, never-know-what's-coming-out of-her-mouth-next kind of girl.   She keeps us all on our toes and loves life.  Cate Cannon will be nominated for an Academy Award one day...or maybe she'll run for President.  She makes life up as she goes!

Hall-our baby.  He is only 13 months old but has found his place in our family.  He is a delight.  Hall is VERY loved by his brother and sister.  He is happy, sweet and easy.  Life is a little brighter with Hall around.

Q:  What do you guys like to do in your spare time?

A: Spare time...hmmm...well, I love to take pictures, blog, keep in touch with friends, design children's clothing, shop and read.  Nelson likes anything outdoors.  He loves to duck hunt.  As a family, we like to play games, play outside, go on vacations, and we would love to camp when the children are a little older.

Q: Over the years, we have watched you guys grow to a beautiful family of five!  Connie and I really appreciate you continuing to be a part of Hill Photography.  Can you tell me what your portraits from Hill Photography mean to you and your family?

A: Our house is a shrine...either to our children...or to Hill Photography, not sure which.  There's not many walls that do not have a Hill portrait on them and we love it that way.  There is no question who ranks high in our house.  We started the baby steps program with our son, Jack, and have continued it with the other two children as well.  We also used Hill for our wedding portraits and our children's 3 year old portraits.  Our Hill portraits will last a lifetime.  I cherish each one of them.  For me, they document the happiest days of my life.

Thanks Amy,  for sharing your thoughts with us!
As you can see, Nelson and Amy are proof that our clients really are the BEST!

The Hays Family

We have been photographing the Hays family for years now, starting with Jennifer and Bryan's wedding.  With their son Rhett turning three, it was time for a family portrait.  Jennifer and Bryan love the outdoors and horses, so we decide to meet  at a farm just outside of town late one afternoon.

We created some classic family portraits, but I really wanted to create something that would show the love between two parents and their child.  I loved this image of the three of them just walking along hand in hand.

One of the last images we took was one of Bryan and Rhett having a father-son moment sitting on a fence as the sun went down.  You can just imagine the conversations they might be having -  the questions Rhett might be asking, like "Daddy?  Where does the sun go at night?"

These are the moments that are gone before we even know they are there.  There is an old song that Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote called "We Have This Moment".  If you ever get the chance, sit and listen to the words...

"We have this moment to hold in our hands and to touch

as it slips through our fingers like sand.

Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come

but we have this moment...today.
